Kershaw Construction and Consulting Ltd (KCC Ltd) is a newly incorporated company set up in December 2013 by myself, Tim Kershaw. KCC Ltd is built on a solid foundation of 35 years construction experience.
The services that KCC Ltd offer are wide and varied, but you can be assured that I have the knowledge, experience and expertise, to deliver quality work at realistic prices. I will personally manage your project from start to completion, and ensure that your project is finished to a high specification.
Like my late father, I am a time served Joiner and learned much of my trade from him. At the age of 16 I started as an apprentice working for my father's joinery and building company, and going to college on a day release basis. I was given all manner of jobs and was also sent to work on other trades. I quickly learned much more than just joinery whilst an apprentice.
After passing my joinery qualifications this background proved invaluable as I began working for myself. I built up a small business by working alongside a very skilled bricklayer. We mainly built extensions but on occasion built bespoke houses for private clients. We regularly undertook major domestic re-furbishment projects, house alterations, and general property maintenance. During this time I created a small team of reliable trades people.
During the 1990's my joinery and building team's skills were used by Crystal UPVc manufacturing company. I soon became fully occupied in installing windows, doors, and conservatories, including installing conservatory foundations and bases. This is where I consider I cut my teeth in the management side, as I began managing the window fitting teams on many large local authority contracts undertaken by Crystal.
In 1998 I left my own business behind as I got the opportunity to expand my management skill. I joined one of the first building contractor Insurance networks of the time called Property Claims Solutions (PCS). This provided insurers with a managed national network of builders to undertake buildings insurance claims. Given my experience, my role was to firstly recruit the contractors, and then train and manage them to undertake building insurance repairs, taking responsibility for the North West Region.
In 2004 I joined Eastwell Contractor Management. Here I, recruited, trained, and managed contractors to cover the North and also Scotland. Due to my experience in this field I became a director of Eastwell in 2006, taking responsibility for all our external operations.
At the time Eastwell was partly owned by Davies, a major loss adjusting and claims management company. In 2008 Eastwell became wholly owned by Davies. I later moved into Davies and set up an external inspector field force to inspect claims before contractors were appointed.
